Arnetta Edna Wetherill was born on October 27, 1904 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. Arnetta attended local schools, and after graduation, attended nursing school. She traveled to Chester County as a nurse, and joined the Army Nurse Corps on February 15, 1944. She was assigned to work at McCaw General Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington.
Arnetta was a Second Lieutenant and worked as a surgical nurse, and later as a fever therapy nurse. On June 1, 1944 she became a patient, having contracted an infectious disease.
Second Lieutenant Arnetta Edna Wetherill died non-battle while on active duty, on July 25, 1944. She was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Campaign Medal.
