Lookingbill, George H

George Henry Lookingbill was born on February 19, 1917 to Daniel and Susan Aseneth Buster Lookingbill in Boswell, Oklahoma. George’s father worked as an oil fireman.

Records indicated that, at some point, George moved to South Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

George enlisted in the Marines on July 13, 1940 and received basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He served as a mechanic in Transportation Company 8th Field Depot.

On July 29, 1944 George married Ruth Teresa Clevenstine from Pottstown. At that time he was stationed at the Marine Barracks, the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.

George Lookingbill was Killed In Action on March 11, 1945 on Iwo Jima. He is buried at Pottstown East End Cemetery.
