John M. DiSivestro was born on September 2, 1924 to Luke and Rose DiSivestro who lived in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. John was the second oldest of four children. Both of his parents emigrated from Italy, but all four children were born in the US. John's father was a laborer at the paper mill.
John entered service in the Army on March 23, 1943. He was assigned to the anti-tank battalion, 10th Mountain Infantry Division. The 10th Division fought in the mountains of Italy, some of the roughest terrain during the war. They were a light infantry division who specialized in alpine skiing used to advance.
Private John M. DiSivestro was killed in action on February 23, 1945. Services were held at the Kein and Wilson Funeral Home on November 21, 1948. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church followed by interment at the churches cemetery in East Bradford Township.
