Mann, Dale B

Dale B. Mann was born in 1918 to Winfield and Bessie Mann in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Dale was the younger of two children.

Dale served with the 409th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group Heavy. The 93rd bombardment group flew B-24 Liberators and was activated in March 1942, at Barksdale field, Louisiana. They flew training missions flying antisubmarine patrols against U-boats. In August, they prepared to go overseas to the European Theater of Operations where they were based in Alconbury, England, from which they flew 396 missions.

Technical Sergeant Daniel B. Mann was reported missing in action on December 22, 1943. He is memorialized at the Cambridge American Cemetery in England.

For his service, Dale was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Purple Heart.
