Alan B. Stewart was born on July 8, 1922 to Charles and Elvera Stewart, who lived in Easttown. Alan was the younger of two children. Alan’s father, Charles, was a World War I veteran.
Alan attended Haverford Preparatory School graduating in 1940. He was a star in track, football and swimming. He then went on to complete two years of college.
Alan entered service in the Army, and after basic and advanced training was sent overseas to the European Theater of Operations in October, 1944. Alan was assigned to serve with the 335th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division.
Private Alan B. Stewart was grievously wounded in action on his first day of combat, November 29, 1944, in Germany. He died in a Belgium hospital on December 3rd.
